Take $50 Off Elopement with Guests Package For December 2025 Dates

Getting married in South Carolina is simple — you just need to apply for a marriage license through the local probate court.
(or) you can go online to the Charleston Probate Court if you are not able to go physically to a courthouse. This is a great step for out of town guests wanting to get married in Myrtle Beach. You can obtain your SC Marriage License from the comfort of your living room, never having to go to the courthouse.
Here is everything you need to know to make it official.
THE LINKS ARE BELOW FOR ALL 3 COURTHOUSES.
Apply through the Horry County Probate Court.
You can visit in person at the Conway or Myrtle Beach office, or start the process online here:
👉 Horry County Marriage License Application
Both applicants must be 18 or older and present valid photo identification, such as a driver’s license, passport, or state-issued ID.
You do not have to be a South Carolina resident to get married here.
South Carolina law requires a 24-hour waiting period between when you apply and when your license is issued.
If you’re coming from out of state, be sure to plan for this waiting period. The courts are open Monday - Friday and closed on all national holidays. So make sure to see if the court will be open on the days you will be in Myrtle Beach and want to get married.
After the 24-hour waiting period, return to the same probate court office to pick up your marriage license.
There is no expiration date, so you can use your license anytime once it’s issued.
To make your marriage legal, your marriage license must be signed by a South Carolina-licensed officiant such as:
Minister Jennifer / Myrtle Beach Wedding Officiant at Justice of the Peace Myrtle Beach 843-213-2556
I offer Marriage License Signing Appointments for couples who prefer a quick, private, and legal signing since the courthouses no longer offer signing.
Once your marriage license is signed, the officiant will help you return it to the probate court so your marriage can be recorded officially. You can then order Certified Copies.
